Relative precisionapproximately 1:2,572

V — Computations and Assumptions

Coordinate components use corrected azimuth α\alpha:

Lat=Lcos⁡α,Dep=Lsin⁡αLat=L\cos\alpha,\qquad Dep=L\sin\alpha

Linear error of closure:

LEC=(∑Lat)2+(∑Dep)2=0.0707 mLEC=\sqrt{(\sum Lat)^2+(\sum Dep)^2}=0.0707\text{ m} Relative precision=PLEC≈1:2,572\text{Relative precision}=\frac{P}{LEC}\approx1:2{,}572

Assumptions and conventions:

  • Station A is the reference unaffected station for this model exercise.
  • Corrected directions are whole-circle azimuths clockwise from magnetic north.
  • Positive latitude is north; positive departure is east.
  • Closure and relative precision use the unrounded internal components; recomputing from the displayed three-decimal components gives a slightly different rounded result.
  • The result is a classroom quality indicator, not a cadastral accuracy certification.

VI — Remarks and Conclusions

A — Remarks

  • Raw fore/back directions do not differ consistently by 180°, supporting the local-attraction diagnosis.
  • Nearby metallic objects, needle settling, centering, sighting, and tape alignment are probable error sources.
  • Raw magnetic observations remain visible after correction.

B — Conclusion

After documented local-attraction corrections, the traverse has a linear closure of 0.0707 m over a 181.90 m perimeter, or approximately 1:2,572. The corrected direction and closure tables provide a traceable classroom compass-traverse result.
