Site Reconnaissance Summary

Reconnaissance ItemDesktop ObservationField Verification Required
Primary accessTwo-lane local road along south boundaryConfirm safe instrument unloading/parking
Secondary accessNarrow service lane on west sideConfirm legal/public access
TerrainSite appears to rise toward northeastEstablish field elevations and slopes
DrainageVisible low corridor along southeast edgeLocate invert/flow path in field
BuildingsExisting structures near north boundarySurvey corners and clearances
VegetationModerate tree cover in eastern portionCheck intervisibility for traverse/control
Pedestrian activityConcentrated near southern entrancePlan safe instrument stations
Overhead utilitiesPossible lines along access roadConfirm location and clearance

Proposed Preliminary Control

Proposed PointDesktop LocationIntended PurposeField Requirement
CP-01Southwest open cornerPrimary horizontal controlStable, visible, safe occupation
CP-02Southeast open cornerBacksight / control extensionIntervisible with CP-01
BM-01Near permanent structureVertical referenceConfirm stable monument/reference
CP-03Northeast open areaTopographic controlVerify vegetation clearance

Proposed Survey Coverage

Survey ElementRecommended Method
Horizontal controlClosed total-station traverse tied to established control
Vertical controlDifferential leveling from verified benchmark
Site detailTotal-station radiation/detail survey
Open-sky checkGNSS observations where appropriate
Drainage corridorDenser spot elevations and breakline observations
Existing buildingsCorner/detail shots and offsets
Access roadEdge, centerline, entrance, and elevation observations

Field Mobilization Priorities

  1. Verify access permission and pedestrian/traffic conditions.
  2. Inspect proposed CP locations for stability and intervisibility.
  3. Confirm benchmark/control references before collecting detail.
  4. Walk the drainage corridor and terrain breaks before finalizing point density.
  5. Adjust the traverse and detail-survey plan based on actual visibility and hazards.

Limitations

Desktop reconnaissance cannot confirm property rights, precise elevations, hidden utilities, current site hazards, monument condition, line-of-sight obstructions, or survey-control validity. All proposed observations must be verified on site before field operations proceed.

Conclusion

The desktop review identifies workable preliminary access, likely control locations, a drainage-sensitive southeast area, and several features requiring denser field observation. The recommended field plan combines closed horizontal control, differential leveling, and detailed total-station coverage, subject to on-site verification.

Submission: Handwritten RW due on the next meeting with the required annotated digital maps printed and attached.
